Day 92 of your Reiki path

Self-Treatment
Head & Face

The first four positions of your daily practice

✦   Self-treatment - head and face

Self-treatment traditionally begins at the head. This is no coincidence. Here are not only the eyes, ears, and brain, but also central areas of perception and inner gathering. In the language of energy work, the crown and forehead are especially connected with openness, intuition, and mental calm. Whoever begins at the head often first brings order to the inner noise.

The first four positions

For this treatment, four basic positions have proven themselves: crown, forehead and eyes, temples or side areas of the head, and back of the head. This sequence has an inner logic. At the crown, you gather yourself and open upward. At the forehead and eyes, you calm the front space of perception. At the sides of the head and the back of the head, you work with deeper tensions, overstimulation, and the pressure that often gathers in the neck and the back of the skull.

Many people notice after only a few minutes in these positions that thoughts become slower. Not always immediately silent, but less gripping. Precisely for this reason, head treatment belongs to the most valuable foundations.

What these positions can do

Different qualities are assigned to these areas: crown for connection and gathering, forehead for clarity and intuition, side areas for calming and balance, back of the head for deep relaxation of the nervous system. You do not have to read such effects dogmatically, but they are useful as experiential knowledge.

One example: After a long day at the screen, if you are restless and inwardly overloaded, a quiet treatment of the forehead and back of the head can already change a great deal. The eyes relax, the breath becomes deeper, the carousel of thoughts loses speed. It is often surprising how directly the head responds to quiet touch.

Not only technique, but attitude

In head treatment, gentleness is especially important. It is not about pressure, but about calm holding. Your hands should not "do", but be present. If you take Byosen into account, it may be that one position produces noticeably more warmth or tingling. Then you stay there a little longer.

The meaning of intention also shows itself especially at the head. May Reiki flow through my head for my highest good is a clear, good alignment. It calms without commanding.

Why this step is important

Many spiritual paths quickly speak of the heart, but the restless head often remains the real troublemaker of everyday life. Reiki takes this seriously. Before you go deeper into emotional or physical processes, your system learns here that calm is not merely an idea, but an effect that can be directly experienced.

On such a day, an old Reiki master would probably say something very simple to you: Place your hands on yourself, and let the world become quieter for a few minutes. Often the head needs no more than that. Why these first positions are so essential

For many people, head and face carry more tension than they realize. Forehead, eyes, jaw, temples, and back of the head store not only mental activity, but often also control, tiredness, sensory overload, and unspoken tension. That is why it is meaningful not to tick off these positions routinely, but to truly inhabit them.

One example: When you place your hands over your eyes, you may only then notice how much they have worked all day. The head not only becomes quieter; often the inner urge to understand everything immediately also sinks.

Another example: Unconscious pressure often shows itself in the jaw. Many people hold tight there during the day without noticing it. Reiki can release a surprising amount of softness in this place, which later may even become noticeable throughout the whole neck.

What you should pay attention to

Especially at the head, less pressure and more presence apply. The hands do not have to rest firmly in order to be effective. An old Reiki master would say: Treat the head in such a way that thinking is not fought, but slowly disarmed.

"What is important for me today after reading this day?"

Your answer belongs in your personal Reiki journal. It grows with every day and stays with you alone.
