Self-Treatment
Legs, Knees & Feet

Grounding and rooting from bottom to top

✦   Self-treatment - legs, knees, and feet

Legs and feet are often underestimated in energy work. Many people prefer to concern themselves with the head, heart, or hands, and forget the lower pole of the body. Yet grounding begins exactly there. The legs carry you through life, and the feet are the most direct contact with the earth.

Why the lower positions are so important

Knees, ankles, and soles of the feet form the basic positions here. In the longer version, groins, calves, and tops of the feet are added. This treatment has a clear purpose: it brings attention downward. Anyone who lives too much in the head, loses themselves quickly, or finds it hard to come to rest often benefits especially from Reiki on the feet and legs.

The soles of the feet are especially powerful because many nerve endings come together there and, in reflexology, the whole body is represented there. Whether or not one wants to adopt every reflex-zone assignment exactly, the experience that Reiki at the feet often has a strongly grounding and ordering effect is very widespread.

Knees as a place of flexibility

The reference to the knees is also interesting. In many traditional views, they are connected with mobility, yielding, and moving forward. This is not to be understood as a rigid interpretation, but it is useful as an image. Whoever holds on stubbornly, fears change, or inwardly cannot move forward often experiences a great deal of tension especially in the lower body.

Reiki at the knees can therefore be more than joint relaxation. It is also an invitation to inner mobility.

The feet as an antidote to being too head-heavy

"Cold feet" can be read as an image for a lack of earth connection. It is a good image. Whoever thinks a lot but stands little easily has energy stuck above. Treating feet and ankles is then not a side matter, but a return into the reality of the body.

A simple example: After a hectic day, you place your hands under or on the soles of your feet for a few minutes. At first you may notice only coolness or tiredness. Then the feet become warmer, the breath sinks, and the head stops having to comment on everything. That is exactly where the power of this treatment lies.

Reiki and walking

Walking barefoot on natural ground also fits this practice very well. It fits very well. When you walk and consciously feel the connection to the earth, movement becomes a form of practice. Reiki in the feet and contact with the ground strengthen one another.

For some people, this is one of the most healing steps of all: not always wanting to be open only upward, but also truly arriving below.

An old Reiki master might say to you on this day: Treat your feet as if they were sacred. For they carry not only your body. They carry your whole path. The underestimated power of the lower positions

Legs, knees, and feet are often treated too quickly in practice, although they are decisive for grounding and stability. Many people live energetically too far up: much head, much chest, much tension, little ground. Precisely for this reason, the lower body needs more attention, not less.

One example: After a hectic day, you place your hands on knees and lower legs and at first notice almost nothing. Only after a few minutes does the breath become deeper and the head quieter. This shows how strongly grounding sometimes returns through the feet and legs.

Another example: With fear or insecurity, treating the feet often brings more than still more work at the forehead. Not because thinking would be unimportant, but because stance is more important now.

What you should pay attention to

The lower positions should not merely be the end of a treatment. For some states, they are the actual key. An old Reiki master would say: Whoever does not stand well in the ground often searches too early in the sky for a solution.

"What is important for me today after reading this day?"

Your answer belongs in your personal Reiki journal. It grows with every day and stays with you alone.
