✦   Day 136: Recognising Byosen in Others

Refining energetic scanning

Byosen is one of the finer tools in Reiki. It describes perceptions that can show you where an area reacts particularly strongly or needs support. In self-treatment, this is already demanding. With other people, it becomes even more sensitive. For you do not feel directly in your own body, but perceive through your hands and your attention something that does not belong to you. Precisely for that reason, this theme needs calm, practice and humility.

Recognising Byosen in others does not mean making diagnoses. It also does not mean immediately deriving a meaning from every sensation. First of all, it means only this: you train your hands to perceive differences in another person's field.

How Byosen can show itself

Warmth stronger heat in one area pulsing tingling pulling heaviness a feeling that the hands are being "held"

These perceptions can be indications, but they do not always have to appear spectacularly. Especially at the beginning, it is often better to take the finer differences seriously instead of searching for big effects.

Why humility is so important

Anyone who becomes too quickly certain with Byosen easily begins to interpret instead of treat. Then perception turns into opinion. This is problematic in work with others. For the other person needs your presence, not premature interpretation.

More mature is to hold inwardly: something is noticeable here. Then you stay a little longer, observe and later also listen to what the other person reports themselves. In this way, perception and reality learn to work together.

How you can practise scanning meaningfully

You can slowly guide your hands over or along certain areas of the body and notice where they react differently. Some work directly with touch, others at first slightly lifted. Both can be meaningful. What matters is that you do not search hectically. Byosen shows itself more in calm attention.

An example: During scanning at the upper body, the area over the solar plexus feels clearly warmer and denser than the rest. Then this is often a meaningful place to stay longer. Not because you now "know" what is going on there, but because Reiki is apparently needed there.

Distinguishing perception and intuition

Byosen is not the same as fantasy. But it is also not completely separate from intuition. Over time you learn to feel a difference between a clear impression and a thought-image about it. This distinction grows slowly. It cannot be forced.

Precisely for that reason, a simple Reiki journal or brief note after treatments is so helpful. There you can record what you perceived and what the other person experienced. In this way, your perception becomes more precise over time.

When Byosen is especially clear

with acute tension in areas of strong exhaustion in old zones of strain at places the other person already experiences as important themselves

There are also sessions, however, in which hardly anything stands out clearly. This is not a failure. Not every good treatment needs strong Byosen. Sometimes Reiki works very evenly.

Practical examples

During a person's first treatment: Scanning can help you get to know the overall state more calmly

With recurring complaints: notice whether the same areas show themselves clearly several times

With uncertainty: rather stay longer in a calm basic position than desperately "wanting to feel something"

Intuitive hand placement and Byosen

Byosen and intuitive hand guidance are closely connected. Often it is precisely perception that leads you to stay longer in one area or adjust the sequence. Yet here too: intuition does not replace calm. It grows from it.

Recognising Byosen in others is a fine art. It requires less self-certainty than many think and more attention than one suspects at the beginning. If you practise it calmly, over time it becomes a quiet, very valuable part of your treatment practice.

"What is important for me today after reading this day?"

Your answer belongs in your personal Reiki journal. It grows with every day and stays with you alone.

Once you are signed up, single days become a path: your progress is saved, your journal is kept, and the attunement days open at the right time.
