Deepening Reiki
and Silence

Hours-long meditations as a habit

✦   DEEPENING REIKI AND SILENCE

Hours-long meditations as a habit

Why longer silence is a school of its own

Short meditation can calm. Longer meditation shows you how the mind is truly built. After a few minutes, much is still carried by good will. After a longer time, other layers emerge: unrest, tiredness, resistance, expectation, impulses to flee, physical discomfort, mental stories. This is exactly why longer silence is so valuable at the master level.

It does not automatically make the practice deeper, but it makes it more honest. In it, a person notices very clearly where they still run away, where they hold on and where, over time, a real inner space can open.

How you build longer meditations wisely

Hours-long meditation rarely becomes fruitful by simply wanting to sit for a very long time from one day to the next. It is better to let the duration grow gradually and take the body and nervous system along with you.

One possible structure could be:

- regular silent sitting times of 20 to 25 minutes - later expansion to 35 or 45 minutes - after that, occasional longer units with clear pauses - finally, times in which silence is carried through several phases of the day

In this way, silence becomes a habit and not a test of strength.

The role of Reiki in longer phases of silence

Cho Ku Rei can help before the beginning to gather the energy and bring you back from distraction. This is especially helpful when you come from a busy everyday life and do not want to arrive inwardly only after twenty minutes.

Dai Ko Myo can deepen the inner alignment. At the master level, meditation with this symbol often becomes quieter and wider, not necessarily more spectacular. It helps enter silence not only as a technique, but as a spiritual space.

Gassho, conscious breathing and a brief self-treatment beforehand can also make longer sitting times more sustainable.

What happens in long silence

At first, little of what one hoped for often happens. Thoughts jump. The body reports itself. Memories appear. Then perhaps tiredness. Then the wish to get up. Whoever believes at this point that the meditation has failed does not yet know its school.

Precisely staying is part of the practice. Not stubbornly, but faithfully. An old Reiki master would not ask: Was it beautiful? He would rather ask: Did you stay when it became unpleasant?

Over time, something changes. The breath becomes finer, reactions lose sharpness, and even resistance becomes something that can be observed. Exactly there, deeper practice begins.

The importance of the body

Long silence is not a war against the body. Sitting posture, warmth, blanket, cushion, pauses and sensing afterward are important. Whoever ignores the body easily turns meditation into an exercise in hardness.

Especially on the Reiki path, it is worthwhile to connect silence and body awareness. If an area hurts or becomes especially loud, you can take this up later in self-treatment. In this way, meditation begins to nourish Reiki practice, and Reiki begins to stabilize meditation.

Examples from practice

Example 1: You sit for 45 minutes and notice that the actual unrest begins only after twenty minutes. Earlier, you might have stood up. Today you stay and later notice that precisely behind this unrest there was more spaciousness.

Example 2: Before a longer master meditation, you set Cho Ku Rei, breathe calmly in Gassho for a few minutes and only then enter the silence. This makes the transition less hard and the collectedness more quickly deep.

The deeper teaching

Deepening Reiki and silence means not always having to do something so that something essential can happen. Longer meditation teaches you faithfulness, simplicity and another measure of depth.

When hours of silence become a habit, often not only meditation changes. Treatments, teaching and everyday life are also carried more quietly. And precisely that is a sign of genuine maturation.

"What is important for me today after reading this day?"

Your answer belongs in your personal Reiki journal. It grows with every day and stays with you alone.

Your answer belongs in your personal Reiki journal. It grows with every day and stays with you alone.

Once you are signed up, single days become a path: your progress is saved, your journal is kept, and the attunement days open at the right time.
